Customize Onboarding Flow for Your Business with MetaOne® Connect

Call it “barrier to entry” or just the difference between feeling welcome and not feeling welcome, onboarding matters. That’s particularly true in Web3. A bad onboarding experience will turn people away — and they may never turn back in your direction. Having to memorize or write down seed phrases on a piece of paper like in the crypto stone age doesn’t exactly instil the confidence in joining the Web3 space.
At AAG we have been working diligently to solve this problem of primitive security with our MetaOne® wallet. However, there is still more work to be done to make sure that businesses have more control over their users’ experience.
The conventional thinking would point businesses to use an SDK and build an application around it. This also means they must also handle a significant amount of additional work on the user interface side for the wallet and also make sure that it’s always up-to-date from features and security aspects even though it may not be their expertise. That’s a very tall order, as well as a security risk for their users.
Introducing MetaOne® Connect: a workflow module aiming to enable customization and streamline the onboarding process.
Let’s take a look at the typical flow with a wallet like MetaMask when you want to onboard users and give them NFT for access to your membership program. The typical flow would look like this:
- User downloads MetaMask and goes through the onboarding process including having to write down seed phrases on a piece of paper
- User purchases crypto to pay for gas fees (If the gateway in the country the user is in does not support fiat-on-ramp, the user is stuck right here)
- User connects with dApp and mints an NFT
Results: User has a wallet containing an NFT and some left over coin for gas fees
Now let’s take a look at the flow with MetaOne® Connect:
- User scans a QR code with embedded partner code and downloads MetaOne® wallet and goes through the onboarding process
That’s it!
Results: User has a wallet containing NFT and the following are some of the examples of what’s possible:
- Business decides to give users small amount of coin for gas fee, users will find the coin after finishing onboarding
- Business decides to preinstall its dApps for users, users will find these on their home screen
- Business has their own tokens, these tokens will show up by default in the wallet
- Business decides that user needs to go through KYC, a KYC form is presented to user at the end of onboarding process
We strongly believe that there is no one size fits all when it comes to onboarding. It also has to be simple with as little friction as possible.
If you are one of those businesses that are looking to improve onboarding or general experience for your users, please connect with us and share your pain points. We would love to work with you to eliminate them.
