In this interview, Templeton Emerging Markets Investment Trust’s (TEMIT’s) lead manager, Chetan Sehgal, introduces the trust and explains the benefits of being part of the very well-resourced Franklin Templeton’s emerging market investment team. The manager attributes the trust’s performance to sticking to his investment philosophy of investing in companies with sustainable earnings power that are trading at a discount to their estimated intrinsic value. He then focuses on the benefits of emerging markets before providing information about TEMIT’s portfolio, which has notable overweight exposures to technology and South Korea, with underweight allocations to China and India. The manager concludes by giving more colour on the trust’s positive performance trend since mid-2022. Launched in June 1989, Templeton Emerging Markets Investment Trust was one of the first emerging markets funds in the UK. The trust seeks long-term capital appreciation through investment in companies operating in emerging markets or listed on the stock markets of such countries. This may include companies that have a significant amount of their revenues in emerging markets but are listed on stock exchanges in developed countries. Performance is benchmarked against the MSCI Emerging Markets Index. #Edison #TEMIT #Vantage
