North America’s only flake #graphite mine may shut down as Northern Graphite seeks C$10M to keep Quebec operation running |#mining, #miningnews https://lnkd.in/gNfxeFDd
As North America’s only producer of natural graphite, Northern Graphite is in a unique and strategic position. Our role extends beyond mere supply; we are at the forefront of powering electric vehicles with essential battery anode materials. It is more than a business for us – it’s about being a key player in the global shift towards electrification. Northern Graphite’s strategy is to leverage our unique position to become a vertically integrated mine-to-market company meeting the growing needs of the North American and European markets by producing graphite, supplying battery anode material and redefining carbon material solutions for industrial markets.

NEWS: “In 2024, we implemented strict cost controls to preserve cash while simultaneously expanding resources through exploration success at our cornerstone Lac des Iles (“LDI”) mine and advancing our vertical integration strategy with the launch of our battery materials division in Frankfurt. Despite geopolitical uncertainty, we sold near-record volumes and continued to broaden our market reach," said Northern Chief Executive Officer Hugues Jacquemin. https://lnkd.in/e4hWKvMV

It was a great 2 days of intense meetings, discussions and insight. Thank you Bryan for leading. Northern Graphite #criticalminerals #canada #usa
Senior Director at the Canadian Chamber of Commerce | World Economic Forum Global Shaper | The Peak's 2023 Emerging Leader's List
It was a pleasure to lead a delegation of senior Canadian business leaders on the Canadian Chamber of Commerce’s third U.S. Critical Minerals Mission earlier this week. This latest mission came at a defining moment in the Canada–U.S. relationship, offering an important opportunity to deepen ties with the new U.S. administration and key industry stakeholders. If you were to create a Venn diagram of priorities that are critically important to both Canada and the U.S.—and that enjoy strong bipartisan/multipartisan support—critical minerals would sit squarely at the center. I leave Washington encouraged by the seriousness with which the new U.S. administration is approaching the critical minerals file, and by its recognition of the strategic role Canada can play. The opportunity for Canada is clear, the challenge is to respond with the urgency, boldness, and speed this moment demands. I’m confident that Canadian business leaders understand the stakes and are ready to act. We’ve heard and seen the same readiness from our American counterparts. And we’ve received promising early signals from Canada’s incoming government that they, too, are prepared to move forward. We look forward to working with them to ensure action follows commitment—delivering real progress for Canadians and our allies. Thank you to the Embassy of Canada to the U.S. | Ambassade du Canada aux É.-U, United States Council for International Business (USCIB), Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) and Vale Base Metals for your support in making this mission possible.
LDI has supplied industrial markets with quality #graphite for 30+ years. Our plans to extend the current pit support our goal of operating our mill at nameplate capacity of 25,000tpy to meet rising demand. https://lnkd.in/ekP9YFj2
Radio-Canada looks at Northern Graphite’s work with The BMI Group to evaluate the feasibility of establishing a Battery Anode Material (“BAM”) facility at a former paper mill in Baie-Comeau, Quebec. The mill is being developed by BMI as the Norderra multimodal industrial hub is featured in this story by Radio-Canada. Reactivating the site could mean faster time to market than an alternative plan to build on a 300-acre greenfield site owned by the city. Northern is currently evaluating both options but the Norderra location has significant advantages in terms of existing infrastructure. https://lnkd.in/ef48UF8V #graphite #evrevolution #energytransition
Legislation like this can be a step forward for driving Canadian resource development at a critical time for critical minerals. Northern Graphite’s Bissett Creek graphite project in Ontario has the potential to provide 44,000 tonnes per year of graphite, the leading component of Lithium-Ion batteries. The future is electric. Let’s Make it Happen. https://lnkd.in/esfCuc8Z
Hugues Jacquemin joins The Watchlist to discuss Northern Graphite’s plans to build a Battery Anode Material plant in Baie-Comeau, Quebec and help create a #graphite and #criticalminerals gateway on the deepwater port. https://lnkd.in/eeNZQEb9 Stockhouse
NEWS! “We are excited to have the support of the Port of Rotterdam as we pursue our vision to supply the global battery market with clean, responsibly sourced #graphite. The port is a natural partner given its leadership role in the EU’s critical raw materials strategy and its longstanding relationship with Baie-Comeau and the Province of Quebec," said Northern CEO Hugues Jacquemin.
