🧵Fashion Friday! It was no ordinary week in Toronto as our tech community (and visitors) came together at events and soirees for Toronto Tech Week. It was the Oscars of Tech in our vibrant city with big-name founders to game-changing unknowns, mingling with investors and visionaries under the scorching Toronto sun. With the humidex hitting a Saint-Tropez-like 46.7 C (116 F), the city transformed into a tech paradise making what to wear a real challenge.
I attended a number of events and rocked a few different looks but this Saint-Tropez-inspired 'White Linen and Mustard" vibe was my favorite from this week.
Given the heat, a cloud white linen jacket was a smart and super stylish way to go! Pro tip: This jacket is actually part of a linen suit from Canadian designer Eric Sana. The jacket doubles as a sharp sports coat, and the pants work solo for a laid-back yet polished vibe. While beige is the classic linen suit colour, white is the bold, standout choice. It's harder to find but screams seaside sophistication - perfect for a summer soiree or say, your second wedding on the shore! 🤣 🏖️
I paired the linen jacket with a crisp white dress shirt and a navy-and-white pocket square that screamed nautical chic. For contrast, I chose light mustard pants - a nod to summer that kept me cool in the heatwave.
And let's not skip the belt - a true outfit unifier! I rocked a bright white elastic weave belt (no notches, no wear-and-tear worries - genius, right?). Belts matter! Say it out loud. A good belt is as expensive as a good pair of shoes but will last even longer. Even cheap belts last a long time but that doesn't mean we should still wear them. Trust me, a worn-out belt with stretched notches? Toss it. Belt up, man - it's a less subtle accessory than you think! 😉 Pro tip: splurge on two: a black/brown reversible (with a swivel buckle for versatility) and a fun summer belt to pop.
The look was capped with handcrafted leather-and-fabric sneakers from HARRIS SHOES - 1913 made in Firenze, Italy since 1913! These aren't just shoes - they're a statement. Perfect for when your snapping pics at events like the Golden Ventures Summer Party, where I was caught entering with a few of McRock Capital's investors.
Toronto Tech Week was a celebration of whats possible in Canada - innovation, connections, and bold ideas - and dressing the part only amplified the energy. If you have a favorite look you caught this week - drop a pic below. I had a few - style salutes to Ab Makalo, CFA, Aidan Gomez, Shelby Austin
