Colorado motorcycle accident lawyers
Scott O’Sullivan is a personal injury attorney from Colorado who has over 25 years experience helping bikers put their lives back together after they’re injured in a motorcycle accident. He launched Rider Justice as a way to support the riding community. Day-to-day, Scott and his team specialize in helping injured riders fight the system that is stacked against them.
Scott and Rider Justice are considered a top motorcycle injury law firm in Colorado, not only because of the firm’s results for clients, but because of their dedication to the riding community. This is reflected in legislative advocacy to help make riders safer, sponsorship of accident scene management classes, support of non-profits that benefit injured riders, motorcycle Film Festivals, supporting local motorcycle shops and more.
Rider Justice is more than a personal injury law firm, we are an integral part of our community.

Whether a reckless driver failed to yield, a distracted motorist caused the crash, or an insurance company is trying to undervalue your claim, we stand by your side.
Scott was the only one who looked into my accident enough to fully understand what happened.
“I don’t want to call Scott a lawyer because he becomes a friend. That’s Scott O’Sullivan and that’s the people who work for him. “Most of the calls I receive about motorcycle accidents aren’t from the victims themselves. I’m called by their loved ones. The spouses, parents and even children of people injured in a motorcycle accident call me when they are facing mounting bills, unending calls from insurance companies and, of course, their own fragile emotional state. I have so much empathy for these families because no one ever expects to be put into such a painful situation. It can be completely overwhelming for them. It is my privilege to help the person injured as well as support to the family that has been impacted by tragedy.”
—Scott O’Sullivan, Colorado Motorcycle Accident Attorney
“No one ever expects to be put into such a painful situation.”
Common Motorcycle Crash Injuries
Even the safest rider wearing the most safety gear possible still lacks the protection of an enclosed vehicle which make injuries more severe. We fight for compensation so that you will have care now, while you’re healing, and also for future, long-term care. With Scott and Rider Justice on your side, we fight the legal battle while you focus on healing. We fight for riders suffering from:
- Traumatic brain injuries (TBI)
- Spinal cord damage
- Broken bones and fractures
- Road rash and severe burns
- Internal injuries, soft tissue damage, organ damage
In the worst case scenario, we are here for loved ones who have lost someone and fight for justice in the case of a wrongful death due to a motorcycle crash.
Colorado Motorcycle Accident Guide – What to do after a crash
If you ride a motorcycle in Colorado, it isn’t a matter of if you’ll be in an accident, but when. Knowing what to do at the scene can make a huge difference in protecting yourself legally, financially immediately and down the road.
Move to a safe position
If you were in a crash, and you are physically able to move, get to a safe position. If your friend was hit in a motorcycle accident, secure the scene and get them to safety if you’re able. Unless you are injured, don’t leave until the police arrive and document the accident.
Call 911
Motorcycle accidents involving another vehicle rarely end with no injuries or damages. You want to call the police so they can document the scene.
Collect insurance information
If you’re physically able, collect insurance information from the other driver. Get their name, telephone number, email address, mailing address, and insurance information such as policy number and insurance company. Phones make this process simple: take pictures of everything including their license plates.
Get pictures
Take as many photos as possible using your phone. Get images of the intersection, skid marks, damage to your bike, witnesses, the location of the car that hit you, debris on the road. Anything and everything that can help piece together what happened.
Go to the hospital or see your doctor ASAP
If you’re seriously injured, get to a hospital and USE YOUR HEALTH INSURANCE – not your motorcycle insurance. Hospitals will do everything in their power to charge you as much as possible after a motorcycle crash. Providing your auto insurance instead of your health insurance opens an opportunity for illegal hospital billing practices.
If you’re not seriously injured, you should at least see your regular doctor the next day. Many times adrenaline will mask injuries and you’ll want to get checked out ASAP. You may even have severe injuries that get worse so it’s important to document your care.
Do not talk to the other driver's insurance company
We cannot stress this enough: DO NOT talk to the auto driver’s insurance company before getting a free consultation from Rider Justice. These companies are experts in tricking people to say something that will lower their payouts. They have an entire arsenal of tactics to minimize settlements which is why you need someone on your side. In fact, once you hire an attorney, that insurance company can’t legally call you anymore.
Do not apologize or admit fault
Believe it or not, but most people are nice and say things that can shift responsibility when they were just being polite. The less you say the better. Your attorney can guide you through the process and protect you before you say something that could cost you thousands of dollars.
Do not post about your accident on social media
Suffice it to say, we have dozens of horror stories where victims were trying to put on a brave face for friends and it backfired. Don’t talk about your injuries, your medical journey, or your daily activities. Stop posting until you get a lawyer who can guide you and avoid pitfalls. If you think and insurance company won’t stalk your profiles for something to use against you, you’re wrong.
