    Brand storytelling on TikTok is your one-way ticket to mass virality........ And NUDESTIX nailed the art form of this formula. I loved their idea of going all in on the storytelling route and obviously being intentional about it! And despite having a longer reel than other mainstream beauty brands posting content on TikTok, they were still able to snag more than 10k views and retain a lot of video watchers! Plus, the comments on the video celebrated the success of Nudestix, which shows how great this storytelling approach really is! But here's what they did in particular that I loved : 1. Talked about their roots, which in their case were Korean-formulated beauty products. 2. Specified when they launched their brand, which was in 2014. 3. Talked about an emotional moment about her mom (a chemical engineer), who has been formulating cosmetics for over 20 years, and it is with her help that she started the brand. 4. They found lab partners in the process of building the brand, went to trade shows and really put in the effort to make Nudestix a global sensation. 5. A founder telling her actual brand story is 100x better than a random employee telling that same story, it connects the audience more! I found myself pretty hooked to this video and the unique approach at play! Even though it's technically not a traditional reel and has a longer duration. But I feel it's pretty useful to give an audience a fresh intro about your brand using this strategy, which I think was a master stroke! Why aren't more DTC brands using this obvious but successful storytelling approach on TikTok?

    Create a team culture that drives your team's performance instead of shrinking their morale How many times have we seen resignations happen? How many times have we seen internal conflicts between team members hamper the overall productivity of work output? How many times have we seen simple dialogues of disagreement turn into fiery back-and-forth word battles between coworkers? I'm guessing that if you've been part of or heard of toxic work cultures, this might have been the norm across all these examples I just shared with you! But why does this happen? The reasons are simple : 1. Barely any development or activities that nurture team bonding 2. No etiquette on how to collaborate and share ideas 3. Not establishing any boundaries with employees 4. Everyone feels burned out and stressed 5. Task management is horrible So, as expected, when companies don't mitigate and control these issues, things usually get out of hand! But I'm guessing someone will have this objection : "But Debarshi, these things are easier to solve within lean teams, and it's difficult to properly micromanage people in a beefier workforce." I get that POV, but everything usually starts at the top! If a CEO is showing immediate concerns for these issues right from the get-go, as the company grows and grows, the message that has been set forth right from the very beginning does get across and is heard more clearly by everyone! At the end of the day, employees follow rules, and rules are rules that are meant to be followed! If the rules genuinely make a difference in improving the collaborative workflow and performance of a company, they have substance in them! Sorry if I contemplated too much in this post! But just a few things I learned working my full-time jobs over the years, that I wanted to pass along! These learnings have been mighty useful for me running Maverick btw 😉 ! I suggest you follow my lead!

    Give a man a fish, you feed him for a day, teach a man to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime I can't tell you how deeply this quote resonates with me and my startup journey that started from doing full-time jobs in tech-focused roles to now a Co-Founder & CTO at Maverick. When somebody gives you a fish for a day, essentially in the corporate world, they're giving you a safe bet. A safe bet sounds to me like a 9 to 5 job!!! You grind 8 hours a day, but honestly, you're just barely scraping by to make your ends meet. At the stage you're not equipped enough to make a sustainable living that completely secures your future and finances, plus just like being fed a fish for a day, you never truly know when you'll be laid off. So it is an instant validation, but you're always on the hook for something unexpected! But when you equip yourself with talent and the right skills with the necessary firepower to start something of your own, then you've successfully "taught yourself to fish, which will feed you for a lifetime". And that's the beauty of having such an entrepreneurial transition from a demanding 9 to 5 to owning your own biz! This principle extends internally as well. As a founder, are we just giving our team tasks, or are we investing in their growth and development, teaching them new "fishing" techniques that will benefit them and the company in the long run? Mentorship, training, and creating a culture of continuous learning are crucial because you're not going to make it if you don't have these non-negotiables sorted. At the end of the day what you sow is what you reap! And I feel like that couldn't have been said any better! Btw I totally caught that fish 🐠 😁

    BTS videos might be an instant hack to TikTok vitality And this one got over 1M views easily! Don't believe me? Well, take a look at what goodr did with their recently posted BTS video. The video shows a guy being slid forward in a cart across a series of obstacles where the team members are purposely pulling the obstacles to prepare for the final effect, which looks magical. The result of the video displays a different POV, but makes the effect look realistic, and makes it seem like the guy is blowing away the obstacles with his phone. The main focus of the video is on the sunglasses, though, "Goodr's Main product". So why do BTS videos like these work in pulling relevant engagement? 1. Satisfying Curiosity People are naturally curious about how things are made, how events are run, or what happens "off-camera." BTS content feeds this curiosity, offering exclusive glimpses that viewers wouldn't normally see. It's like getting an insider's look. 2. Educational Value Many BTS videos implicitly or explicitly teach the audience something - whether it's a skill, the steps in a creative process, or the sheer amount of work involved in producing something simple. This adds value beyond pure entertainment which is obviously attention grabbing for the audience! 3. Storytelling Element Behind-the-scenes footage often tells a mini-story - the journey from concept to completion, overcoming an obstacle during production, or simply showcasing a day in the life. Good storytelling is engaging and keeps viewers watching. 4. Reason for high engagement? Because BTS content feels more personal and less formal, viewers often feel more comfortable engaging with it through comments and questions. It establishes a sense of community and dialogue between the creator and the audience, which you can't get any other way! My advice would be to try BTS videos for your brand, there's literally no harm in doing so. But try to experiment with different formats, styles and trends to see which one works the best for you!
