Tradewind utilizes enterprise blockchain technology to power VaultChain Gold—digitizing physical gold on-chain while it remains securely custodied by the Royal Canadian Mint for its Custodial Participants. Wellfield made this acquisition to capitalize on Tradewind’s relationships with the Royal Canadian Mint and VaultChain, with demonstrated market fit, currently securing over $200M in digitized gold. However, with all these achievements, we also recognized gaps in the existing platform that limited its functionality and scalability. Over the past year, we’ve undertaken a major platform upgrade, introducing a new architecture that integrates public blockchain capabilities within a permissioned and secure ecosystem. This enhanced platform supports a broader range of on-chain financial services, enabling a secure trading and investment environment with instant settlement and no counterparty risk. With these enhancements in place, Tradewind is now ready to scale. To drive its growth, Wellfield has decided to spin out Tradewind through an RTO with a public company. The introduction of crypto ETFs represents a significant evolution in the digital asset space.
