Good events come in threes 😉 Yesterday was a busy day for our founders, Johann Dorval 🌊 and Sebastian Stockzelius. Both had been selected to present Janah Cycle in front of great audiences: at the VIII Prix Entrepreneur Tech event organized by the CCI France Espagne - Cámara de Comercio Francesa and at the Col·legi d'Economistes de Catalunya, followed by a Blue Economy dinner organized by the Port de Barcelona to discuss collaboration within the ocean community. 🌟 In addition to the great locations (Antiga Fàbrica Damm and Restaurant Vraba Copa America) and the opportunity to share Janah’s mission and vision with such interesting audiences, we also had the chance to meet and connect with inspiring people, like discussing the environmental challenges we face with the French Consul General in Barcelona Olivier Ramadour Thanks again to Christian Marion Carreras Carlos Gonzalo Meryem El Hayani for such a nice and convivial event and to the partners and jury Andorra Business Cofidis España Cuatrecasas Edenred España French Tech Barcelona Orange Spain WOJO You are Capital. 🌎 TACTICAL CLEANUP UPDATE 🌱 Location: Devikulam area, Kerala, South India Terrain: Mountainous / Hard-to-Reach Area Impact: 672 Kg of waste removed from the riverbank. — Last month, as part of the Sustainability Award contest held by HELkom , we pledged to trigger the recovery of 10kg of plastic waste from nature for every percent of vote we received. Thanks to you, two Tactical Cleanups have been set to be operated in neglected and hard-to-reach areas of India, with our local impact partner Recity. 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲’𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗮𝗽 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Together with Recity and local waste pickers, we organized an emergency cleanup in a river catchment area located in the hills of Devikulam, in Kerala, South India. This area is facing a dire crisis of severe plastic pollution. Water bodies in this region are dumping waste directly into the catchment area, exacerbating the problem. On March 20th, a collective of 48 dedicated people, composed of local waste workers from Devikulam Panchayat, members of the Recity’s Hilldaari team, and students from the nearby Carmelgiri College, united their efforts to undertake this critical curative action. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲? → A total of 𝟲𝟳𝟮 𝗞𝗴 of plastic waste has been removed from nature in only one day! This impressive amount is due to the fact that this river catchment area had not been cleaned for several years and had become a dumping ground for waste. Thanks to this effective work on the ground, the small stream was even rejuvenated 🌱 𝗦𝗲𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘃𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗼 𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗼𝘄 (𝘀𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝗻) 🎥 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗸𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝗶𝗻 𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗱: → Empowering impact partners on the ground with direct upfront funding enables them to access remote areas for curative waste removals in nature, going where nobody else can. → Shining a light on waste management issues in the Global South: with 2 billion people currently lacking access to organized waste collection (it will double to 4 billion by 2040 without intervention). → Solutions supporting waste management infrastructure and boosting local collection systems from urban to rural areas, are pivotal in preventing waste from polluting nature at its source. 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗘𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 + 𝗖𝘂𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗻𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 + 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. This is our solution for committed brands to join the global fight against plastic pollution. Another week, another great event! 🌟 Attending the World Ocean Summit last week in Lisbon has proven to be an insightful and important journey for our co-founders Johann Dorval 🌊 and Sebastian Stockzelius. In addition to attending inspiring panels like Fabien Cousteau's "Reimagining ocean exploration: living and working underwater" and Emma Cobos' "What is the potential for AI to restore ocean health?", they have had the chance to meet and talk with leaders from the private sector and change-makers from the ocean conservation and restoration fields, discussing the importance of global collaboration as a powerful tool to protect our oceans 🌊 Thank you Tatiana der Avedissian from the Economist Impact World Ocean Initiative and SungBinh Ip for such a great organization of the event!

Bom dia Lisboa 🇵🇹 Yesterday our co-founders Johann Dorval 🌊 and Sebastian Stockzelius arrived in Portugal's beautiful capital Lisbon to attend the eleventh annual World Ocean Summit, organized by Economist Impact World Ocean Initiative. This event is a chance to meet and get inspired by experts on the ocean conservation and restoration, the agenda focusing on ocean health, industry strategies for a sustainable ocean economy, and ocean-climate solutions. The first day was rich with great panels and presentations. Today we are expecting great workshops and even more conversations about how global collaboration and new strategic partnerships will help us tackle pollution in the Global South and help protect our oceans. 🚀 Here we go! It's official, Janah Cycle has obtained the Startup certification in Spain! Last week, Enisa con el emprendimiento innovador certified us as an innovative startup in the sustainability sector, in accordance with the Spain Startup Law, under the Ministerio de Industria y Turismo. We're now among the first 800 startups in Spain to receive the prestigious certification! As an impact-driven tech startup based in Barcelona, this label of quality and recognition serves as a strong validation mark of our innovative solution to combat plastic pollution in disadvantaged regions of the world 🌱 I want to express my gratitude to Borja Cabezón, Carolina Rodríguez and the remarkable team at Enisa for certifying us within only 20 days after our application! 📝 Key points of the Spain Startup Law: → Encourages the formation of rapidly growing technology companies. → Facilitates domestic and foreign investment in newly established startups. → Promotes investment in research, development, and innovation (R&D&I). → Positions Spain as a leading entrepreneurial reference in Europe. What a week! #4YFN #MWC2024 Very happy (and not even that tired!) to have had the opportunity to attend the 4YFN event at Mobile World Congress 2024 and connect with so many great people. 🌏 This was the perfect place to share conversations and ideas about leveraging technology to empower global collaboration. Every interaction has been a chance for us to share our mission of preventing 1 billion kg of plastic from entering the ocean by 2035 and to discuss how future partnerships will help us achieve this goal.
