What a great week in Korea and Japan, 20 meetings, 2 conferences and an amazing tour of Prime Planet Energy & Solutions´ latest Giga Factory in operation in Himeji. Cannot be thankful enough to NRCAN Isabella Chan 🇨🇦 and Invest Canada The Hon. Laurel Broten for putting these events together showcasing the greatness of #canada and its #criticalminerals fostering Friendship & Collaboration with 3 great nations. As said many times over « We are open for business ». Let’s make it happen! #graphite Northern Graphite

In the second leg of an Our NRCan | Notre RNCan, Invest in Canada | Investir au Canada mission to Japan and South Korea this week, Northern’s CEO Hugues Jacquemin discussed Canada’s opportunity to lead in the race to supply the world’s critical minerals, especially graphite that is critical in defense, battery making and other industrial applications. With its Quebec #graphite corridor anchored by Northern’s Lac des Iles mine, the only producer of graphite in North America, Canada’s mining tradition means it has the resources, the expertise and technologies, and the adherence to ESG practices that the world demands as we move to supply the materials needed for a sustainable energy transition. We are thrilled to have received this critical support from the Canadian government, which will keep Lac des Iles in operation, preserving jobs and our ability to continue supplying our customers of today while preparing for coming demand for #graphite as the #energytransition gathers steam. Big thanks to our government for stepping in to help preserve Canada's stake in production of this key battery mineral.
Minister of Energy and Natural Resources | Member of Parliament for Markham-Thornhill | Ministre de l’Énergie et des Ressources naturelles | Député de Markham–Thornhill 🇨🇦
The world is changing fast - but one thing remains the same: Canada is standing with our natural resource industry to protect jobs and our economy. That’s why we stepped in to sustain production of graphite at the Lac des Îles mine in Québec — North America’s only operating graphite mine. This investment means Canada can maintain domestic capacity while providing our allies with a secure and sustainable source of graphite, a crucial input for batteries and other products.

Hugues Jacquemin speaks to over 100 investors and business leaders at an Our NRCan | Notre RNCan and Invest Canada event at the Canadian Embassy in Tokyo, where he described why government support like the kind Northern received this week for its Lac des Iles mine is so important to investor confidence in the sector, building sustainable critical minerals supply chains and reducing dependence on China, the dominant producer of key inputs like #graphite.
