https://lnkd.in/e8e3X_3p Calling for Canada to get back to nation building with infrastructure projects with “generational impacts”, Prime Minister Mark Carney has unveiled the next series of projects fast-tracked for approval by the government’s Major Projects Office. Canada, the prime minister said, must step up to its role and the opportunity to supply the world’s critical minerals needs. Kudos to momentum building and here’s to continuing to make it happen for Canada’s future.

Northern is poised to be a significant supplier of graphite to the EV revolution and widescale electrification.
About us
As North America’s only producer of natural graphite, Northern Graphite is in a unique and strategic position. Our role extends beyond mere supply; we are at the forefront of powering electric vehicles with essential battery anode materials. It is more than a business for us – it’s about being a key player in the global shift towards electrification. Northern Graphite’s strategy is to leverage our unique position to become a vertically integrated mine-to-market company meeting the growing needs of the North American and European markets by producing graphite, supplying battery anode material and redefining carbon material solutions for industrial markets.

Check out this overview of the critical minerals path that lies before Canada in the wake of government supports announced at G7 meetings in Toronto last month there, including views from Northern CEO Hugues Jacquemin .
Canada is betting on its vast natural resources to become a critical mineral supplier to its allies, challenging China’s dominance in the space. At a recent G7 meeting in Toronto, Canada unveiled CAD 6.4 billion across 26 investments with nine allied countries. These include private and public offtake deals and joint financing for projects led by Nouveau Monde Graphite | NYSE: NMG + TSX: NOU, Vianode, Northern Graphite, Ucore Rare Metals Inc., and Torngat Metals. According to Photinie Koutsavlis at the Mining Association of Canada, the announcements represent “a fairly significant package” for the sector. However, being able to compete with China will require more time, money and effort. It was an honor to be invited by the Honorable Timothy Hodgson , Canadian Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, at the G7 ministerial meeting press conference on Energy and Environment. During this event, I had the privilege to sign and announce two agreements with our partners, ALKEEMIA and Rain Carbon Inc, to advance our mine to market journey on purification and coating. Special thanks to Lorenzo Di Donato, Michael Spahr, Michael Grimm, Yoshi Uenishi, Claude Guay, Eng., ICD.D Alberto Castronovo, Isabella Chan, Andreas Grunewald, Pav Jordan, and Balsharan Rakhra for making this happen.

Good news from this week's Federal Budget for Canadian critical minerals. As our Minister said during the G7 meetings last week, Canada is moving from talk to action and Northern Graphite is proud to do its part with government support for the extension of our pit at Lac des Iles, North America's only producing #graphite mine. https://lnkd.in/e2wYtxUa

Today, our government tabled Budget 2025 — here’s what it means for building a stronger, more secure Canada: 1. We are strengthening our critical mineral supply chains with a $2B Critical Minerals Sovereign Fund to scale strategic projects and $1.5B to help get mines and processing facilities over the finish line. This moves Canada from exporting raw resources to processing and manufacturing more of the value here at home. 2. We are improving our energy competitiveness by making regulations simpler, supporting carbon capture and methane reduction, and investing in low-carbon industries, to ensure Canada remains competitive and investment-ready so we can continue supplying our allies with reliable energy and other products in a changing global market. 3. We are accelerating housing construction and improving affordability with $25B to build homes faster and reduce project costs — including support for modular and factory-built housing, faster approvals, and modern financing tools — so more homes are built where Canadians live and work. Having spoken with workers, Indigenous partners, industry leaders, premiers, and communities across the country, the message has been clear: Canadians want a future where hard work pays off, where we build at home, and where we trade with allies who share our values. Budget 2025 puts that vision into motion. The momentum is real, Canada — let’s keep building. — Tim Hodgson

The momentum continues for critical minerals, from coast to coast to coast and around the World.
The G7 Energy and Environment ministers will be meeting in Toronto this week to discuss energy security, including how to secure critical minerals. In an interview with me this morning, Canada's Energy Minister Tim Hodgson said that this Friday, Canada will sign and support a range of critical minerals partnerships that will include stockpiling of critical minerals and investments in new mining and processing operations with its G7 partners.
