💧World Water Day: Our “Sustainability by Design” project will look to reduce water usage at our Van Buren facility by one third!💧 This World Water Day, we are excited to reaffirm our continued commitment to sustainable water use. At our Tate & Lyle Van Buren facility in Arkansas, US, we have begun the construction of a new wastewater treatment plant, with the aim to reduce the facility’s water use by one-third. The new system, expected to be operational by summer 2026, takes our waste water, cleans, filters and purifies it to be reused in the cooling tower. In doing so, we will no longer need to draw freshwater for this purpose. To build on this, today, we are also announcing that we have joined the Alliance for Water Stewardship (AWS), giving us access to global best practices, collaborative initiatives and innovative strategies to improve water efficiency across our facilities. Water is, of course, a shared resource, which means we need to ensure that our use of water is sustainable not only for ourselves, but the communities we operate in and the planet we live on. We continue therefore to be committed to our target of reducing our water use intensity by 15% by 2030. Supporting healthy living one child at a time 🍎🥑 Recently, our EU Nutrition Business Partner, Marietta Sayegh, PhD, RNutr (Nutrition Science), led an interactive session for 10 to 11 year old schoolchildren in Thessaloniki, Greece, introducing them to the different food groups and the importance of healthy eating habits. Children designed their own "healthy plate" using stickers and magnets to apply what they had learned in Marietta's session. They then learnt how to make a simple nutritious snack, "Banana Sushi," following a simple recipe, reinforcing practical ways to make healthier food choices every day. At Tate & Lyle, supporting healthy living is at the heart of what we do and where our purpose has the biggest impact on the world. Our goal of helping our customers make healthy food tastier and tasty food healthier drives the development of new ingredients and solutions. To date, Tate & Lyle has supported over 121,000 people with health, nutrition, and wellbeing programmes. Thank you to Marietta and the positive impact she is making in her local community. 🌙✨Embracing the spirit of Ramadan: Tate & Lyle Dubai team partner with ne'ma foundation✨🌙 This Ramadan, our Tate & Lyle team in Dubai partnered with the ne'ma foundation to support the local community. The ne'ma foundation is dedicated to reducing food waste by collecting food (surplus or near expiry date) and diverting it from landfill. These supplies are then packed in 'iftar' boxes by volunteers and shared with people in need. Ramadan is a holy month observed by Muslims worldwide, marked by fasting from dawn to sunset, prayer, reflection and community. One of the key aspects of Ramadan is the iftar meal, which is the meal eaten after sunset to break the fast. For many, this meal is a time to come together with family and friends, but for some, it can be a challenge to provide for this meal. Our team was honoured to contribute to this initiative by helping to pack these iftar boxes. It was a humbling experience for the team to see the impact of the foundation's efforts and to know they were helping to provide for families in need during this special time. We are proud to support the ne'ma foundation's mission and to play a part in reducing food waste while making a positive difference in the local communities we call home. Preventing hunger is one of our key purpose priorities and we're proud to say that we have already exceeded our global target of 3 million nutritious meals, having delivered over 4.2 million to date.
